Biking Directions:

If you’re staying downtown in an Airbnb, there are plenty of bicycle friendly routes to the Community Building along local streets. Coming from further away or the Best Western Plus/Fairfield Inn, please note that the most direct route is along Kansas Avenue/Business 81, which will be most comfortable for a very seasoned rider.

  • Lakeside Park offers many possibilities for recreation, reflection, and family fun. Amenities include picnic shelters, playgrounds (including an accessible playground), a disc golf course, Swan Court fountain, a garden bridge, and a fishing lagoon. Wall Park, McPherson’s largest park, features 60 acres and is bisected by four-acre Mingenback Lake. Park amenities include an exercise trail, tennis courts, handball courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic shelters, playgrounds, a skate park, and public restrooms. • The American Discovery Trail through Kansas is 570 miles long, stretching from eastern to western Kansas. While on the trail, you will walk in the footsteps of the pioneers, the Great Plains Tribes, and many a western hero or bandit. You will see the unique geological formations of Kansas, follow the rivers, view the gorgeous Flint Hills and Smoky Hills, and watch birds at the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Refuge. Find out more about the American Discovery Trail in Kansas.

  • When you travel the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway, you will follow in the steps of Native Americans, explorers, and pioneers as they sought food, shelter, adventure, and a better life. This trail begins about 15 miles west of McPherson, traveling through small towns (including Lindsborg) along a scenic route. Learn about the route and what to do along the way.
